When it comes to sewing my eyes are definitely bigger than my stomach, with only two weeks to go until the handmade fair at hampton court and a month until the ally pally knitting and stitching show I am feeling overwhelmed by the amount of sewing I would need to do to justify a new purchase! (Being swayed by a 20% bank holiday offer at Ray Stitch didn’t help!)
So, when Marissa from Sewaholic posted her three things fall sewing plan I was inspired to take it slowly and create a plan rather than feeling overwhelmed! So despite having about 10 projects I want to write on my list, I am going to go for 3 and see how I go, so here goes
Project 1: Dinosaur cape for my son Ralph
Bought pattern and fabric a bit to late for a kiddy festival we were going to and didn’t have a chance to make in time – it’s a super lovely pattern fromsewcando.com looking forward to making this for my son Ralph who is 4, I hope he likes it
Project 2: Spotty Casual Dress Simplicity 1800
Have had this on my list for a while after I saw some lovely examples on pinterest, see simplicity 1800 here. Bought some lovely cotton spotty fabric from Ray Stitch, it’s a little nutty so let’s see how this turns out!!! I think I will fo for the slightly longer sleeves
Project 3: Casual trousers Vogue 8961
This isn’t a new project but a UFO that I need to finish… it’s a dark navy and white light wool type fabric which I threw together, it’s my first pair of trousers and I couldn’t wait until after having a baby to do my cutting out so I cut a size 18 when I had a slight baby bump thinking it would fit me sometime after having the baby. The good news is, I’ve been exercising the last few months so this UFO is a little too big. I need to do something with it and finish this project! Pattern is here
Will let you know how I am getting on over the coming weeks and try to fit in a little every week!
Right of to it!!!
